About the Location

Sports Facilities

Set in South Whitehall Township, Cedar Creek Park sprawls across 156 acres of Allentown, Pennsylvania. True to its name, the park follows the gentle flow of Cedar Creek, offering a refreshing mix of activities for everyone who visits.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the extensive collection of sports fields - the largest in all of Lehigh County Parks. Soccer players, rejoice! You'll find six full-sized soccer fields and three smaller ones, with lighting for night play on three fields. This setup makes Cedar Creek a popular location for soccer tournaments, with regional competitions happening throughout the year.

If soccer isn't your thing, no worries. The basketball court welcomes both serious players and casual shooters, while the volleyball area provides yet another option for working up a sweat.

Additional Recreational Areas

Beyond soccer, the park features a full-sized competition baseball field, a dedicated competition women's softball field, and four additional fields ideal for softball and youth baseball games. Tennis players can enjoy the tennis courts for a match or some practice.

Families with kids will appreciate the large playground with equipment suitable for various ages. During summer months, the water play area becomes a hub of giggles and splashes. One unique feature that bookworms will love is the charming book trading post where you can leave a book and take one home.

Natural Features

The southern section of the park reveals a wooded wetland area alongside Cedar Creek - an ideal spot for quiet bird watching or connecting with nature. East of Cedarbrook Road, the creek widens to include a pond and trout hatchery.

The water features around the park create a peaceful backdrop for any visit. Many people come just to watch the migratory ducks that have claimed the lake as their home. Throughout the seasons, the trees, flowers, and changing foliage create stunning natural scenes that photographers can't resist capturing.

Picnic Areas

When you're ready to refuel, head to one of the picnic areas with tables positioned along the creek. For larger gatherings, the park offers a 120-seat pavilion (available to residents by permit) and a smaller picnic pavilion that doesn't require a permit.

Planning an event? The park has three different recreational areas you can reserve through the city website. And don't worry about staying hydrated - water stations are conveniently located throughout the grounds.

Walking Trails

One of Cedar Creek's notable features is its level walking and jogging trails that meander through the landscape. Whether you're looking for a morning jog route or a peaceful afternoon stroll, these well-maintained paths offer beautiful views throughout.

The trails have become a daily ritual for many locals seeking exercise or just a moment of peace. And yes, you can bring your four-legged friend - the park is dog-friendly, but leashes are required and you'll need to clean up after your pet.

Recent Improvements

Since adopting a Master Site Development Plan in 2011, Cedar Creek Park has seen thoughtful upgrades including additional soccer fields, a new multipurpose ball field, expanded trail networks, and a dedicated nature trail through the wetland areas.

The improvements also focused on practical needs like better ADA access, restroom facilities (you can find them near the picnic pavilions), more parking, and improved traffic flow across the park.
