Playground Features

The playground setup is pretty clever, with two distinct areas separated by the parking lot. Got little ones? Head to the section with the tot climber shaped like a cop car (which, let's be honest, is adorable), infant swings, and equipment that's just right for smaller adventurers.

For older kids, there's a separate area with more challenging play options. A highlight of this playground are the two ziplines that are popular with many kids.

There's also an accessible in-ground merry-go-round that's inclusive for all abilities, a sensory bounce swing, and even some cool percussion instruments that let kids make a little noise (sorry, parents!). With both infant and regular swings, plus various rope features including a rope merry-go-round, there's enough variety to keep the "I'm bored" complaints at bay.

Sports Venues

The centerpiece for many visitors is the well-maintained baseball/softball field where local teams battle it out during the season. But don't worry if baseball isn't your thing - this versatile space works just as well for impromptu football games, kickball matches, or soccer practice.

There are also open grassy areas fantastic for spreading out a blanket for a picnic or tossing a frisbee around.

Visitor Amenities

When you need a break from the sun, the fully covered pavilion area offers a welcome retreat. It's well-lit and equipped with several picnic tables, making it ideal for birthday celebrations or family gatherings.

There are even outlets available if your phone needs a charge after taking too many photos of the kids playing. You can find additional picnic tables scattered across the park, offering quiet spots to enjoy a packed lunch or simply sit and watch the world go by.

Nature calls? The park has a porta-potty on site for when you need it. And thankfully, garbage cans are placed strategically across the grounds, so there's no excuse for not keeping this community favorite clean.

With its mix of active and passive recreation options and generous shade trees, Sherwood Park offers something for various visitors - from energetic toddlers to teenagers to parents just looking for a peaceful moment outdoors.
