Having opened its gates in 2012, this green space is relatively new to Philly's park scene, but it didn't take long for it to become the neighborhood's favorite outdoor hangout spot.

From Vacant Lot to Vibrant Space

Before the trees and benches, this plot was just an empty lot next to the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza housing development. The park's transformation came about through true community effort - local organizations, residents, and city officials all rolled up their sleeves to make it happen.

Eco-friendly design choices like permeable paving and native plant species show thoughtful planning went into this space. The trees planted during its creation have matured over the last decade, now casting welcome shadows across the grounds.
