Garibaldi Square

Historic Gateway

Garibaldi Square is a small public park located in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. The park serves as a gateway to the historic Italian-American district of the city.

The square is named after Giuseppe Garibaldi, a prominent 19th-century Italian general and nationalist figure.

Transformation Through Time

Garibaldi Square has undergone several transformations over the years. In 1975, the site was revitalized as part of efforts to rejuvenate the Federal Hill area.

Prior to this, the location housed a public bathhouse built in 1911 to serve the needs of the then-crowded Italian immigrant community.

Community Space

Today, the park functions as a small urban green space, providing a place for local residents and visitors to gather and relax. Its position at the entrance to Federal Hill makes it a popular meeting point and a symbol of the neighborhood's cultural identity.
