Since opening in 2019, this urban space occupies land once occupied by Interstate 195. The park elegantly straddles both riverbanks, connected by the stunning Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Pedestrian Bridge - a wonderful spot for capturing that Instagram-worthy city view.

What's fascinating is how this space emerged from a major infrastructure change. When I-195 was relocated, it freed up 26 acres of downtown real estate, and this park represents one of the most successful transformations of that space. The neighborhood has changed significantly over the last decade.

Community Living Room

The park functions as a popular gathering place for Providence residents. Located in the growing 195 District (an emerging innovation and design hub), the space is frequently busy with visitors. On an average day, about 5,000 people wander through, relax, or gather here.

You'll often stumble upon free community events during the year. From morning yoga to evening concerts, there's usually something happening that brings people together. The park has become a popular social spot, offering good views of Providence's skyline.

Design That Feels Like Rhode Island

The park incorporates elements of Rhode Island's character in its design. From May through October, the park is especially active. The Guild PVD Beer Garden operates during this time, offering local beers with a view of boats on the river. Food trucks are available daily, offering a variety of food options with scenic views.

While the park offers portable restrooms rather than permanent facilities, they're well-maintained. And yes, you can bring your four-legged friends along - the park welcomes dogs, making it a popular spot for the city's pet owners.
