About Point Street Park in Providence

Point Street Park is Providence's newest public green space, opened in July 2023 on the western side of the Providence River. The park was developed on land formerly occupied by the I-195 highway, which was relocated in 2013. This riverside park offers visitors scenic views of the Providence skyline, the Michael S. Van Leesten Bridge, and the Providence River.

The park features a large central green area suitable for various recreational activities. A key feature is a new steel and wood walking bridge that connects the main park area to Point Street on the west side of the river. This pedestrian bridge enhances accessibility and provides additional vantage points for enjoying the urban and natural scenery.

Point Street Park includes walking paths that allow visitors to stroll along the riverfront and enjoy the waterfront views. The park's design incorporates both active and passive recreational spaces, making it suitable for a variety of uses from picnicking to casual sports.

As one of the newest additions to Providence's park system, Point Street Park serves as a community gathering space and contributes to the ongoing revitalization of the city's waterfront areas. Its location near downtown makes it easily accessible to both residents and visitors exploring the city.
