Park Overview

Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lien Park is a peaceful green space within the city. This public green space is both a park and a little glimpse of nature right in the city.

Lien Park is just one haven in Sioux Falls' impressive collection of over 80 parks, which together span more than 3,000 acres throughout the city. It contributes to the city's 30 miles of paved trails, meant for your morning jog, afternoon bike ride, or a leisurely evening stroll.

River Connection

One of the park's most charming aspects is how it cozies up to the Big Sioux River. The waterfront area provides a nice spot to sit, watch the river flow, and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Exciting changes are on the horizon too! Lien Park will soon become even more accessible thanks to a planned expansion of the Sioux Falls recreation trail. A generous $1.3 million donation will fund a mile-long extension connecting the park to Bahnson Avenue along the north side of the Big Sioux River.

Dog Park Area

Lien Park features a fully fenced dog park that's among the larger ones in Sioux Falls. Here, your four-legged friends can run, play, and socialize off-leash to their hearts' content.

You'll discover thoughtful amenities like benches for resting your feet, a picnic table for snack breaks, and waste stations complete with trash cans and dog waste bags. Just note that the dog park currently has limited shade and no water facilities, so be sure to bring water for your pup, especially on warm days.

Trails and Natural Setting

Behind the dog park, bike trails meander through the landscape, offering a peaceful route for cyclists and pedestrians alike. These paved paths aren't isolated - they connect to Sioux Falls' broader trail network, opening up miles of exploration.

The waterfront setting creates a naturally beautiful backdrop for your outdoor adventures. The lakeside views make for particularly picturesque dog walking, running, or simply sitting and taking it all in.

Future Developments

Mark your calendars for spring 2025, when construction begins on the exciting trail extension project. The plans include an elevated boardwalk area that will enhance both the park's beauty and its connectivity to the rest of the city.
