About Lake Hills Park

Park Features

Winding through shaded areas, Lake Hills Park's quarter-mile walking path offers a fantastic escape for both exercise enthusiasts and those just looking to stretch their legs. It's a peaceful little outdoor haven right within the city limits. You'll often spot locals making their daily rounds, many with four-legged friends in tow, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere.

Beyond the walking trail, there's a playground area where kids can burn off energy and make new friends. The park also houses a ballfield that's open for impromptu sports games - meant for tossing a frisbee, playing catch, or organizing a casual game with neighbors.

Amenities

Packed a lunch? The park's picnic areas provide just the spot to enjoy an outdoor meal with family or friends. There's something special about dining surrounded by nature, whether it's a simple sandwich or an elaborate spread. If you need a breather during your walk, you'll find at least one bench along the path where you can pause and take in the surroundings.

Atmosphere

Many consider Lake Hills Park a serene area, tucked away from Chattanooga's busier areas. Its secluded location creates a sense of discovery when you first find it and offers a quieter experience than you might find at more popular parks. The peaceful setting makes it an ideal retreat when you need a moment away from the constant hum of city life.

History

This green space came to life through Chattanooga's ReCreate 2008 initiative, which was adopted back in 1999. The park officially opened its gates in October 2001, making it a relatively recent addition to the city's collection of outdoor spaces.

Developed with an investment of $124,000, Lake Hills was intentionally designed as a passive park. Rather than hosting large events or intensive recreational activities, it focuses on providing a tranquil environment where the community can connect with nature and each other.
