About Everly Brothers Park in Knoxville
Everly Brothers Park is a small pocket park located at the corner of Kingston Pike and Forest Park Boulevard in the Bearden area of Knoxville, Tennessee. The park was named in honor of the legendary Everly Brothers, Don and Phil, who lived in Knoxville as teenagers in the 1950s and attended nearby West High School.
The park serves as a tribute to the musical legacy of the Everly Brothers and their connection to Knoxville. It features landscaping, walkways, and a small stage area that can be used for informal performances. The park is connected to the Bearden Village Greenway, making it accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.
Dedicated in 2019, the park was a collaborative effort between the City of Knoxville, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and local community organizations such as the Bearden Council. It transformed a former gas station site into a public green space, enhancing the neighborhood's aesthetic and providing a gathering place for residents.
A Tennessee Music Pathways marker was added to the park in September 2022, further commemorating the Everly Brothers' impact on the music industry. The park also includes plaques with quotes from well-known musicians about the Everly Brothers, providing visitors with insight into the duo's influence on rock and roll history.
