Located in East Knoxville, Harriet Tubman Park spans a modest 4.36 acres but packs in plenty of charm. This neighborhood green sits just west of Vine Middle School and represents a natural gathering spot for the surrounding community.

The peaceful setting features Harriet Tubman Creek meandering through the grounds, while mature trees cast welcome shadows on hot Tennessee days. If you're looking for active recreation or just a quiet spot to unwind, this little park offers a bit of everything for all ages.

Historical Significance

Before 1975, locals knew this space as Preston Street Park, but on April 22 of that year, it was renamed to honor Harriet Tubman - the extraordinary abolitionist, humanitarian, and Civil War scout whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Facilities and Amenities

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the well-maintained basketball courts, tennis courts, and pickleball courts scattered throughout the grounds. If you're visiting with kids, the playground provides a wonderful energy outlet, while the picnic shelters offer shaded spots for family gatherings or a casual lunch break.

The paved walking paths make for easy strolling through the park, and the small lake alongside Harriet Tubman Creek adds a tranquil water element to the landscape. Plenty of open grassy areas invite impromptu frisbee games, picnics, or simply sprawling out with a good book. Public restrooms are available, however the maintenance quality can vary depending on when you visit.

Visitor Information

The park welcomes visitors daily from 8AM to 9PM. Its proximity to Vine Middle School makes it especially lively when school lets out. Street parking exists but can fill up quickly during peak times, so you might want to arrive early on beautiful weekend days or when special events are happening.
