About the Location
Park Layout
Sequoyah Park & Greenway is neatly divided into three distinct sections, each with its own parking area along Cherokee Boulevard's eastern side. The East Parking Lot gives you easy access to one of these sections, making it convenient to explore the park. There's plenty of space to park, and if you're driving green, you'll appreciate the electric car chargers available.
Trails and Recreation
The Sequoyah Greenway stretches 2.7 miles along Cherokee Boulevard's median. This soft-surfaced trail is ideal for a morning jog, a leisurely walk, or a relaxing bike ride through this charming neighborhood. If you're tracking your workout, you can find mile markers along the way to help you gauge your progress.
Need some space to spread out? The park offers generous grassy areas that are ideal for laying out a picnic blanket, tossing a frisbee, or simply lounging with a good book. Sports fans can take advantage of the athletic fields, including baseball and softball facilities for those pickup games with friends.
Amenities and Features
Kids getting restless? The park includes a playground area where they can burn off energy. When nature calls, public restrooms are conveniently located in the main parking area.
Scattered around the park, you'll find picnic tables well-suited for enjoying an outdoor meal while taking in the surroundings. And feel free to bring your four-legged friend along - the park is wonderfully dog-friendly, with plenty of space for your pup to explore.
River Access and Views
The park connects to the Tennessee River. With two waterway access points, you can easily launch a kayak or canoe for some time on the water.
The walking paths offer beautiful river views that change with the seasons and time of day. An especially unique sight happens during University of Tennessee game days, when you can watch boats cruising down the river toward the stadium - adding a touch of local color to your park experience.
