About the Location

River's Edge Retreat

Nestled along the Tennessee River in Knoxville, Marine Park offers a tranquil escape for anyone looking to connect with nature. It's a good spot for water sports or a peaceful riverside stroll.

The park has a boat launch area for river access. Just a heads up though - if you're planning a winter boating adventure, the ramp can be a bit short when lake levels drop, so plan accordingly.

Greenway Gateway

Marine Park sits at the tail end of the Knox-Blount Greenway, a 2.2-mile stretch running from the south side of the JE "Buck" Karnes Bridge. This makes it an ideal jumping-off point for walkers, joggers, and cyclists looking to explore the riverside paths.

Many people actually use Marine Park as their parking spot to access the greenway. The smooth, paved pathways hug the river, offering a scenic route whether you're out for a morning jog or an afternoon skate.

Nature and Recreation

If fishing is your thing, you'll appreciate the shoreline access where you can try your luck catching whatever's biting that day. The calm setting makes it easy to lose track of time as you wait for that perfect catch.

Paddling enthusiasts can start their journey here too, with a 3.4-mile one-way float option to nearby riverside spots. And sometimes just walking along the water is an ideal activity - the views from the greenway can be pretty spectacular.

Open Spaces

The park has plenty of room for spreading out a picnic blanket or gathering with friends. The Tennessee River views create a nice backdrop for a simple lunch.

Just a word of caution - the park borders the UT Golf Course, so keep an eye out for the occasional wayward golf ball in some areas.

Getting There and Basics

There's a spacious parking lot for both the boat launch and greenway access. The turn-off from the highway can be a bit tricky to spot, so keep your eyes peeled as you approach.

Currently, the park is pretty bare-bones when it comes to amenities. There's limited seating with not much shade covering the few benches available. Also worth noting - there are no restrooms on site, which is something to keep in mind if you're planning an extended visit.
