About the Location
Play Ball and Relax
Found on Solway Road, this little park might not be flashy, but it has the essentials. The softball field comes complete with functioning lights, meant for evening games when the summer heat subsides. While you won't find elaborate playground equipment for the kids here, the field offers plenty of space for adults to get their game on or practice their swing.
Take a Break
Feeling hungry after running the bases? The picnic tables scattered around the park make an ideal spot to refuel. The mature trees lining the edges cast welcome shadows on hot Tennessee days, creating natural cooling stations for your outdoor meal. When nature calls, you'll find restroom facilities on-site - just keep in mind they might occasionally be locked, so plan accordingly.
The Neighborhood Retreat
At just 2 acres, Solway Park is definitely on the cozier side of Knoxville's green spaces. Though small in size, it offers a tranquil setting. You'll rarely find crowds here, making it a wonderful escape when you need some quiet time outdoors or a peaceful spot to clear your head.
Something Different
One of the park's more unique features is the cemetery that occupies part of the grounds. This adds an unexpected historical dimension to your visit - a quiet reminder of the area's past amid the recreational present. The park maintains a clean, peaceful atmosphere throughout, and occasionally hosts community concerts and events, however these tend to be few and far between.
