About Elmington Park
Recreation for Everyone
Spread across several acres, Elmington Park offers plenty of open grassy spaces where you can do pretty much anything that requires a bit of room. These wide lawns are excellent for throwing a frisbee around, setting up a picnic blanket, or just lounging on the grass with a good book. Dog owners particularly love bringing their furry friends here for some exercise and socialization.
Kids can burn off energy at the playground area which cleverly separates the big kids from the little ones. The larger playground has multiple slides and climbing structures, while the smaller section keeps the younger crowd (think 3-5 years) safely entertained. Both areas work well for children roughly between 3 and 12 years old.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the soccer field that sees regular action throughout the week. There's also a baseball field open for community use. If you happen to visit on a Sunday, you might catch something unexpected - the Nashville Kangaroos Australian football team, who've been making this their home turf since 1997.
Sports Facilities Worth Visiting
The recently updated tennis courts here offer beyond tennis. They're also marked for pickleball, which is a nice bonus since pickleball courts aren't exactly abundant in the area. Whether you're a tennis veteran or a pickleball newcomer, these versatile courts are available for both games.
A True Community Hub
Elmington Park is a neighborhood gathering place, with picnic tables scattered throughout for anyone needing a spot to eat or relax. Its location nestled among residential streets makes it an easy escape for locals looking for some green space without traveling far.
The park comes alive with community events all year long. Movies in the Park transforms Thursday evenings at sundown into an outdoor cinema during certain seasons. On weekends, food trucks often roll up, creating a casual, festive vibe that's fantastic for families or friends meeting up.
Good to Know
The park is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged companions along. Just note that while there are portable restrooms available, you won't find permanent bathroom facilities here.
Situated in front of West End Middle School, the park naturally becomes a popular spot once the school day ends. Despite its urban surroundings, there's something surprisingly peaceful about this space - it's well-maintained and generally quiet enough to serve as a genuine retreat from city life.
Elmington Park may not compete with Nashville's largest green spaces in terms of size, but it's a well-used neighborhood park that has provided accessible outdoor space for the local community for decades.
