Kirby Park

Natural Setting

Kirby Park is a public recreational area located on the east side of Lake Kirby in Abilene, Texas. The park offers visitors a variety of outdoor activities and amenities centered around the 740-acre man-made reservoir.

Lake Kirby is primarily known as a fishing destination, with anglers able to catch species such as largemouth bass, catfish, white crappie, and sunfish.

Wildlife and Exploration

The park features a nature play area and walking trails, allowing visitors to explore the local flora and fauna.

Birdwatchers will find the park particularly interesting, as it's home to a diverse array of bird species including ducks, gulls, pelicans, herons, egrets, and various migratory birds. The east side of the lake is considered the best spot for birdwatching, especially in the early morning hours.
