El Alamo Park

A Verdant Retreat in Amarillo

El Alamo Park stretches across 9.2 acres of refreshing greenspace at the corner of SE 16th Avenue and Houston Street in Amarillo. The park features meticulously maintained grounds with soft green grass and well-kept trails that are ideal for a peaceful stroll or simply soaking up some outdoor time.

Lining the park's edges, mature trees cast generous shade patches throughout the day, creating natural shelters for relaxation. These shady spots make ideal settings for spreading out a picnic blanket or simply unwinding with a good book. With its open layout, there's plenty of room for family gatherings or meeting up with friends.

What You'll Find Here

The park offers both reservable sections and areas available on a first-come basis, accommodating everything from casual visits to planned events. If you're planning an extended stay, you'll appreciate the restroom facilities conveniently situated near Park Area 2.

Scattered throughout El Alamo are numerous picnic tables and benches for comfortable seating. Feeling hungry? Fire up one of the barbecue grills for an impromptu cookout. The park management has thoughtfully placed trash cans around the grounds to help keep this green space pristine.

Play and Recreation

El Alamo Park doesn't skimp on recreational options. Kids will love the newly upgraded playground equipment with modern play structures and swings designed with safety and fun in mind.

Sports enthusiasts have plenty to keep them busy with basketball courts, a baseball field (complete with an L-screen for batting practice), soccer fields, and a volleyball court. For something a bit more traditional, there's even a dedicated horseshoe area to test your aim.

Cooling Off and Special Touches

A highlight of El Alamo Park is its refreshing splash pad - a welcome relief during those hot Texas summer days. This water feature is particularly popular with families looking to cool down while the kids burn off some energy.

The park's open grassy areas invite impromptu games of frisbee or simply lounging on a blanket, while paved paths provide smooth surfaces for walking, jogging, or pushing strollers. Summer brings the park to life with operational water features and accessible restrooms.
