About the Location

A Green Oasis in Arlington

Situated in Arlington, Texas, Veterans Park stretches across a whopping 103 acres of verdant landscape. This sprawling green space has been a community fixture since August 15, 1967, with activities for just about everyone.

Hit the Trails

Feeling like stretching your legs? The park's 1.44-mile hike and bike trail winds through beautiful scenery, ideal for your morning jog or afternoon stroll. Many sections are wheelchair accessible, so the trail welcomes visitors of all mobility levels. When the Texas sun cranks up the heat, you'll appreciate the shaded paths that offer a cool respite.

If disc golf is your thing, you're in for a treat. The 18-hole disc golf course features varied terrain that challenges both beginners and experienced players.

Horse enthusiasts haven't been forgotten either - dedicated equestrian trails await you and your four-legged friends. Perhaps most unique is the park's interpretive trail, the only one of its kind in Arlington, guiding you through different ecosystems for an educational nature walk.

Nature's Corner

The tranquil fishing pond doubles as a wildlife habitat where ducks and turtles go about their day while you cast a line or simply sit back and watch the show. It offers a quiet spot amid the suburban surroundings.

Plant lovers will appreciate the wildscape garden, known as the Molly Hollar Wildscape, showcasing native Texas flora and attracting butterflies and other pollinators. Nearby, the xeriscape garden demonstrates how beautiful water-efficient landscaping can be. Throughout the year, Throughout the year, seasonal wildflowers add splashes of color to the Texas landscape.

Community Spaces

Need a spot for your next family reunion? The park's 35' x 35' pavilion comes equipped with electrical outlets, lighting, and enough picnic tables to seat about 120 people. You can claim it first-come, first-served for smaller gatherings, or make a reservation through the City of Arlington for bigger bashes.

The park also features a performing arts shell with professional acoustics and stage lighting - a wonderful backdrop for concerts and performances under the open sky.

Family Fun

Kids have plenty of room to burn energy at the playground areas, which include separate sections for little ones (ages 2-5) and bigger kids (ages 5-12). You'll find swings, slides, and unique play equipment that stands out from other Arlington parks. There's even a little free library near the playground - grab a book for your afternoon in the park or leave one for the next visitor to enjoy.

Beyond the formal amenities, open grassy areas invite impromptu games of frisbee, casual picnics, or just sprawling out on a blanket with a good book.

Honoring Our Heroes

True to its name, Veterans Park acts as more than a recreational space. Several memorials dedicated to veterans stand around the grounds, creating thoughtful spaces to honor those who served in the armed forces. Informative monuments and flag displays offer moments for reflection and gratitude.

The park grounds include parts of what was once an old Indian reservation, adding historical significance to the site.
