About the Location
Fresh Playground Experience
The star attraction at Fielder Park has to be its playground, completely revamped in 2019. The thoughtful design includes separate zones for the little ones (ages 2-5) and the bigger kids (5-12 years old).
Kids can challenge themselves on the climbing wall, interact with fun sign panels, or conquer the flex-climber - all added to inject some excitement into playtime. Arlington parents, take note: this park features the city's first "Mommy and Me" swing, where you can actually swing alongside your little one instead of just watching from the sidelines.
Older children gravitate toward the tall climbing apparatus and big slides that offer just the right amount of thrill. The playground's artificial turf surface provides a soft landing spot for inevitable tumbles, giving parents one less thing to worry about.
Beyond the Playground
As you enter the park, you'll be greeted by a fifteen-foot flower bed that transforms with the seasons thanks to automatic irrigation - a small but nice touch that adds to the park's appeal. For the more active visitors, basketball and tennis courts await your competitive spirit.
Planning to make a day of it? The park's picnic areas come equipped with tables and barbecue grills, great for an impromptu outdoor lunch or a planned family gathering. There are about two picnic tables available, so arriving early on busy days might be wise.
The open grassy spaces are meant for tossing a frisbee, kicking a soccer ball, or simply sprawling out with a good book. Football fans particularly appreciate the well-maintained grass areas that stay green and inviting throughout much of the year.
Natural Charm
Scattered throughout Fielder Park, you'll come across magnificent large oak trees casting generous shade across the grounds. These shady havens are absolute lifesavers during the hot Texas summer months.
The picturesque tree-lined areas make a beautiful backdrop for family photos, with dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. It's this blend of mature trees and open spaces that gives the park its unique, peaceful character.
Practical Matters
You'll come across clean restrooms available, however be aware they're a bit of a trek from the playground. Note that these facilities have an open design with minimal privacy - something to keep in mind when planning longer visits.
The park is kept in good shape overall, with tidy play areas and well-maintained facilities. You'll have no trouble finding a place to rest, as benches are generously distributed throughout the grounds - well-suited for catching your breath while keeping an eye on the kids.
The Neighborhood Spot
Fielder Park sits nestled among residential areas, making it an easy destination for nearby families. While not the largest park in Arlington, its convenient location and variety of amenities have made it a treasured neighborhood gathering place.
The park's cozy size and friendly atmosphere make it a good spot for meeting other local families. It's not the biggest park around, but it's a pleasant space where neighbors often gather.
