History and Location
Eastwoods Neighborhood Park is a 10-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Austin, Texas. Situated near the University of Texas campus, this park has been a cherished community gathering spot since the city acquired the land in 1929.
The park holds historical significance as one of the earliest locations in Austin where African Americans celebrated Juneteenth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, it continues to serve as an important public space for the surrounding neighborhood and university community.
