About the Location
Park Overview
Situated in a Carrollton neighborhood, Martha Pointer Park spans about 6 acres of green refuge from suburban life. It's that perfect local spot where you can escape without actually going far from home. The park features a clear, easy walking path that loops around the grounds - ideal for when you need to clear your head or get those step counts up without having to navigate complicated trails.
Recreation Facilities
The park has two dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets, so you don't have to set up your own makeshift court. These courts are lighted, meaning your games don't have to end when the sun goes down. Just be aware that during prime time (7-10 PM), these courts can get pretty packed with enthusiasts. If you're serious about securing court time, you can make reservations through the Oak Creek Tennis Center for a small fee.
Not into pickleball? No problem. You'll also find updated tennis courts and a basketball court to satisfy your sporting needs.
Kids haven't been forgotten either - a playground area with turf flooring means little ones can play and tumble with a bit more cushioning than traditional playground surfaces provide.
Natural Features
The walking trails meander through the park in a circular design, making it super convenient if you're trying to track laps or distance. There's something meditative about being able to just walk without having to think about your route.
Scattered throughout are green spaces meant for spreading out a blanket for an impromptu picnic or just lounging with a good book. The trees dotting the landscape not only add to the peaceful vibe but offer welcome shade during those scorching Texas summer days.
Park Management
The City of Carrollton keeps Martha Pointer Park in good shape, and you're welcome to enjoy it daily from 5 AM until 10:30 PM.
There are restrooms available, but you should note they might be closed during winter for seasonal maintenance - something to keep in mind if you're planning a visit during colder months.
The park itself is free to enjoy, but if you want to guarantee your pickleball time, remember you can book courts through the Oak Creek Tennis Center.
