About the Location
History and Origin
Established in 1930, Martin Weiss Park spans 14.8 acres in Dallas, Texas. The park is named after Martin Weiss, a successful businessman who owned and operated a millinery supply business in Dallas.
In 1928, Weiss purchased and preserved the historic Hord home for use as a community center. He later donated $65,000 for the construction of a community building. In 1935, the Park Board officially named both the center and the park after Martin Weiss, recognizing his contributions to the community.
