About the Location

A Bit of History

Tucked away in Dallas, Texas, Tipton Park offers 10.9 acres of green serenity that feels miles away from city life. Established back in 1968, this peaceful spot is part of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department's effort to make sure city dwellers have access to nature.

The 2003 Makeover

In 2003, Tipton Park got some well-deserved attention when it was included in a citywide park improvement project. The park received a striking custom-designed pavilion during this renovation. Created by The Hillier Group (formerly known as Hildinger Associates Architects), the pavilion stands out with its bold cantilevered roof and strong vertical columns - a design that actually inspired other pavilion projects throughout Dallas parks.

What You'll Find There

Tipton Park blends open spaces with recreational facilities, creating a versatile outdoor retreat for everyone. The covered pavilion with picnic tables provides a great spot for family gatherings or just enjoying lunch in the shade. If you're feeling active, the basketball courts are ready for a quick game or serious practice session.

For those who prefer a more structured walk, the park offers a measured walking path that meanders through the greenery. And if you simply want to sprawl out with a book or toss a frisbee, the open grassy areas have you covered.

For the Kids

Little ones won't be disappointed at Tipton Park. The well-maintained playground area features swings and slides that meet safety standards, giving parents peace of mind while their children play. The park's open layout gives kids plenty of space to run around and play.

Good to Know

Tipton Park is generally clean and quiet - a pleasant escape from city surroundings. While there are portable toilets available, just note that permanent restroom facilities aren't part of the current setup.

If you're looking to connect with others in the community, check out events like Walk with the Doc, a monthly program that brings neighbors together for some healthy activity. Whether you're looking for some quiet time alone or a place to meet others, this green space offers a nice dose of nature within Dallas.
