About the Location
A Glimpse into the Past
Found on the north side of the Hollywood/Santa Monica neighborhood, Lindsley Park has been a green haven since 1947. This 8-acre location sits right beside the Santa Fe Hike and Bike Trail, offering a wonderful blend of nature and accessibility in the heart of Dallas.
The park got a significant facelift in 1994 when the Hollywood/Santa Monica Neighborhood Association kicked off the Lindsley Park Capital Improvements Campaign. This community-driven initiative brought new playground equipment, a pavilion, and some much-needed landscaping upgrades to the space.
Fresh Face for an Old Friend
Fast forward to October 2021, and Lindsley Park emerged from another round of improvements. This recent makeover included all-age accessible playground equipment, making the park more welcoming for everyone. New benches, better drainage, improved ramps, and perimeter lighting were also part of this thoughtful update.
Back in 1998, the park received a stylish new pavilion designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architects. It wasn't just any structure - the architects took care to echo the character of the surrounding 1920s neighborhood, incorporating elements that complement the brick and stone-veneered Tudor cottages nearby.
What You'll Find Today
If you're looking to escape the city buzz without leaving Dallas, Lindsley Park offers a peaceful retreat. The winding trail invites you to take a leisurely stroll under the canopy of mature trees, while open grassy areas provide plenty of room to toss a frisbee or simply stretch out with a good book.
Kids gravitate toward the playground area, where the two-level tower slide tends to be the star attraction. What makes this park especially comfortable are the abundant shade trees - you won't have to worry about seeking shelter from the Texas sun during your visit.
Where Community Happens
More than just a pretty space, Lindsley Park represents the neighborhood's living room - a place where community connections happen naturally. No matter if you're meeting friends for a casual hangout or bringing the family for some outdoor time, the park accommodates all kinds of gatherings.
The picnic tables scattered throughout make it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors, and with recreational equipment suited for various ages, it's no wonder locals return again and again. The park's thoughtful design ensures that whether you're six or sixty, there's something here for you to enjoy.
