About the Location
A Glimpse into the Past
Located in Dallas, Texas lies Willis C. Winters Park, a 16.3-acre green space that's been around since 1922. Known as Randall Park until 2019, it was renamed to honor the retiring Park and Recreation Director, Willis C. Winters - a fitting tribute to someone who dedicated their career to Dallas' green spaces.
One of the park's true treasures is its historic pavilion built in 1924, making it one of the oldest in the Dallas Parks system. We've lovingly restored it using the original blueprints, and now it stands as a charming spot to catch your breath and take in the surroundings.
Natural Beauty
Step into Willis C. Winters Park and you'll find yourself surrounded by greenery that offers an escape from city life. The tranquil setting can make you forget you're still in Dallas.
Situated on the eastern side of the city, it's easy to reach whether you're a local or just passing through. On any given day, you'll spot a colorful mix of joggers getting their steps in, neighbors walking their dogs, and cyclists enjoying the fresh air.
Get Your Game On
This park isn't just pretty - it's practical too. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of facilities, including baseball fields, tennis courts, and soccer fields that host both adult leagues and youth sports all year long.
For those who prefer a more casual workout, the park connects to the Santa Fe Trail, opening up miles of possibilities for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. The paths winding through the park provide nice routes for walking and jogging.
Family Fun
Got kids? The park features a children's playground complete with swings and slides that little ones love. While it's not massive, it offers enough excitement to burn off some energy and create some smiles.
Dotted across the grounds are picnic areas excellent for family gatherings or catching up with friends. The park also becomes a community hub during special events, with the annual National Night Out in October being a neighborhood favorite that brings everyone together.
Looking Forward
The park continues to evolve with the community's needs. Recent upgrades include ADA-compliant picnic tables and benches, better lighting along walkways for evening strolls, and plans for fitness facilities that visitors of all ages can enjoy.
Excitingly, the 2026 Bond program includes plans for a new expanded children's playground, giving families even more reason to visit.
Willis C. Winters Park offers recreation, natural beauty, and community space. It's regularly used by locals, including residents from the neighboring Juliette Fowler Community, who come here for outdoor activities.
