About the Location
Location and Overview
Tucked away in northeastern El Paso, Mountain View Park lives up to its name with breathtaking mountain vistas on the horizon. This local retreat sits near Magoffin Middle School and has transformed over the years while keeping its welcoming spirit intact. It's become a go-to spot for locals looking to enjoy some fresh air and outdoor activities without venturing far from home.
Recreational Facilities
If you're into skateboarding, there's a well-designed skate park complete with various ramps and obstacles that cater to everyone from wobbly beginners to trick-landing pros. Just bring your board and helmet, and you're set for hours of fun.
Baller? The basketball courts are excellent for shooting some hoops, whether you're up for a competitive pickup game or just want to practice your three-pointers. There's also plenty of open grassy space that's excellent for tossing a frisbee, having an impromptu soccer match, or just sprawling out with a good book.
Family-Friendly Features
Kids will make a beeline for the modern playground equipment that's a far cry from the metal jungle gyms of yesteryear. With a safe mulch surface below, little ones can climb, slide, and let their imaginations run wild in a secure environment. Kids seem to have a great time here.
Bringing Fido along? No problem! The park is dog-friendly, so your four-legged family members can join in on the outdoor adventure - just keep them leashed and bring those cleanup bags.
Amenities and Comfort
Mountain View has abundant shade trees - very welcome during those scorching El Paso summers. These leafy giants create cool pockets around the park, making even hot afternoons bearable.
Feeling hungry? Settle in at one of the metal picnic tables with benches, many thoughtfully positioned under the canopy of trees. It's an ideal setup for family lunches, birthday celebrations, or just enjoying a sandwich in the great outdoors.
While there aren't permanent restrooms on-site, a portable toilet is available when nature calls. And for those who can't quite disconnect, you'll come across free WiFi near the recreation building - ideal for checking emails or posting those park selfies.
Natural Setting
The Franklin Mountains provide a scenic backdrop to this neighborhood park. You can find yourself glancing up at their majestic silhouette as you walk the grounds. The surrounding area, once dubbed the Devil's Triangle but warmly renamed Angel's Triangle by community members, adds another layer of character to this treasured space.
Many longtime El Pasoans have watched Mountain View Park evolve through the decades, with memories of childhood games played in the same space where today's children now play.
