Hobart Taylor Park

A Historic Community Space

Established in 1959, this 7-acre green space serves as a recreational hub for the Settegast neighborhood in northeast Houston.

The park has undergone significant renovations as part of the Houston HOPE Program, an initiative aimed at revitalizing historic neighborhoods. In 2022, Mayor Sylvester Turner unveiled improvements to the park, which included upgrades to various facilities.

Recreational Amenities

Hobart Taylor Park features a diverse range of amenities catering to different age groups and interests. The park includes a resurfaced walking trail that spans 0.49 miles, providing visitors with an opportunity for exercise and leisurely strolls.

For sports enthusiasts, the park offers a lighted sports field and a covered basketball court.

Families with children can enjoy the playground area, which provides a safe space for kids to play and socialize.

Gathering Spaces

The park includes picnic areas with tables, benches, and barbecue pits, making it an ideal spot for gatherings and outdoor meals.

One of the park's notable features is its swimming pool, which offers six lap lanes for swimmers. The pool area provides a refreshing retreat during Houston's warm months and serves as a community gathering spot.

Environmental Education

Hobart Taylor Park is not just a recreational space but also an educational one. It is home to a coastal prairie habitat, which is part of a natural resources project running from 2015 to 2020 in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation.

Community Center

Adjacent to the park is the Hobart Taylor Community Center, which offers various programs and services to local residents, further enhancing the park's role as a community focal point.
