About Rodeo Park in Irving
Rodeo Park is a neighborhood park located in Irving, Texas. The park spans approximately 5.46 acres and was acquired by the city in 1971. This public green space serves as a recreational area for local residents and visitors alike.
The park is part of a larger greenway that includes Lincoln Park, Marine Creek Linear, and Marine Creek Linear North, stretching along Marine Creek between North Main Street and Buck Sansom Park to the northwest. This parkway configuration is reminiscent of a design proposed by S. Herbert Hare in 1942.
In recent years, Rodeo Park has undergone several improvements to enhance its facilities and accessibility. The playground equipment was renovated in 2008-2009. In 2013, a major project began to upgrade various aspects of the park, including the replacement of sections of the existing trail that were in poor condition and did not meet ADA standards. The project also involved replacing chain-link fencing on backstops, dugout benches, bleachers, and ball field lighting. These improvements were completed by 2015.
Rodeo Park offers a mix of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The park features a playground for children, a shelter for gatherings, and sports facilities including a volleyball court and a half basketball court. For those looking to relax or have a picnic, the park provides several benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds.
