Beyond the water fun, this park has quite a bit going for it. Skaters will appreciate the shaded skateboard park that's safely fenced in, complete with shaded bleachers where parents or friends can hang out and watch the action.

Younger kids haven't been forgotten - there's a covered playground with mini slides that's excellent for the little ones, plus swings where older children can soar. If basketball is your thing, the open basketball court with four nets provides plenty of space for pickup games or shooting practice.

You'll discover picnic tables scattered within the park, with some under cover (though the shade structures aren't exactly massive). For those looking to get some exercise in, the running track offers a nice loop for jogging or walking.

Location & History

Situated on West Lyon Street at the bottom of a hill, this park is pretty easy to find and access. It's named after Dr. Cecilia May Moreno, honoring her meaningful contributions to the Laredo community.

What's particularly clever about this space is how it repurposes what was once unusable culvert area. The park curves around and connects with Eliseo Valdez Jr. Park on the south side via a bridge spanning the culvert - something that kids tend to find particularly exciting to explore.

Amenities

On the practical side, you'll find portable restrooms on the north side of the park. Parking isn't an issue with lots available on both sides of the culvert (the north lot is significantly larger if you need more space).

Where the two parks meet, there's a charming butterfly station that adds a touch of nature education to your visit - a nice little bonus to an already well-rounded community space.
