Located in McKinney, Texas, Towne Lake Park covers 108 acres, featuring a 22-acre lake at its heart. Just east of Central Expressway and a stone's throw from McKinney High School, this park offers that perfect escape we all need sometimes, without having to venture far from the city.

Trails Worth Exploring

If you're looking to stretch your legs, the park offers a network of hiking and biking trails. A well-maintained 1.2-mile trail loops around the lake, ideal for your morning jog or evening stroll. The views around the lake make for a pleasant experience.

If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, venture into the wooded nature trails that take you deeper into the park's quieter corners. Just a heads-up though - these trails are a bit more rustic and can get muddy after rain, so maybe save those white sneakers for another day.

With plenty of open green spaces, you'll come across a great spot to throw down a blanket, open a book, or simply watch the clouds drift by. The natural setting provides a nice break from the usual city noise.

On the Water

The lake is regularly stocked with Florida largemouth bass and rainbow trout by the Texas Parks and Wildlife department, making it good for fishing. Prefer to be on the water rather than beside it? The lake welcomes non-motorized boats, and you can easily rent a kayak through the "Rent Fun" app (about $3 for 30 minutes or $12 for an hour). There's a designated launch area, but note that if you bring your own kayak, you'll need to carry it from the parking lot.
