About the Location
A Tribute to Our Heroes
Positioned in Plano, Texas, Veterans Memorial Park offers a tranquil retreat for anyone looking to honor those who've served in our armed forces. This peaceful space invites you to take a moment away from life's hustle and reflect on the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families. The well-kept grounds provide a suitable atmosphere for quiet contemplation.
The Armed Forces Memorial
At the heart of the park stands the Armed Forces Memorial - a circular water fountain surrounded by ten flagpoles rising behind a low granite wall. Seven 25-foot poles proudly display the flags of our military branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, and Air Force National Guard.
The Texas State and Plano City flags wave from taller 30-foot poles, while the American flag commands attention from the tallest position at 35 feet. Look closely at the granite wall beneath each flagpole and you'll come across the official seal of each corresponding agency or government beautifully etched into the stone.
Memorial Features
One of the most touching elements is the brick walkway where personalized bricks commemorate individual service members with their names, ranks, and service dates. It's a powerful sight to walk among these tributes to so many who have served.
The memorial area is further enhanced by two striking sculptures that capture the experience of military service in a way words often can't. These artistic pieces really help connect visitors to the realities faced by those in uniform and the families who support them.
