Nestled in San Antonio, Texas, Emmitt Park is a charming public space located on the Community Bible Church campus. The church gifted this recreational area to the city in honor of their former pastor, Robert Emmitt - creating a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.

Spanning about 6 acres, this park offers something for everyone. Soft Christian music flows through speakers across the grounds, creating a peaceful backdrop for your visit. We appreciate that security personnel regularly patrol the area, so you can relax knowing it's a safe environment for the whole family.

Play for All

The inclusive playground is designed with accessibility in mind, welcoming children of all abilities, including those using wheelchairs. Kids can explore modern equipment while parents enjoy peace of mind thanks to the soft, turf-like ground covering and fully fenced area with child-proof gates.

On hot Texas days, the splash pad becomes the star attraction. Water geysers spray upward, creating a refreshing play space that's especially meant for toddlers and younger children looking to cool off. It's one of those simple joys that makes summer in San Antonio more bearable!

Little ones particularly gravitate toward the hammock swing and the popular spinning feature. With equipment suitable for various age groups, siblings of different ages can each find their own fun while staying within sight of one another.

If you're feeling athletic, Emmitt Park offers several options. The basketball pavilion offers a covered court that shields players from the intense Texas sun - a thoughtful design element that extends playing time even on scorching days.

Prefer sand between your toes? The two sand volleyball courts bring a beach vibe to the heart of the city.

The three pickleball courts have become quite popular, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with a one-hour limit when others are waiting.

Surrounding these facilities is a walking track (about one-third of a mile) dotted with exercise stations. You can get in a complete workout while enjoying the fresh air - a nice alternative to indoor exercise.

Spaces to Connect

Not everything at Emmitt Park is high-energy. You'll find multiple picnic areas where you can spread out lunch or gather with friends. Some tables sit under an awning attached to the restroom building, offering welcome shade during the heat of the day.

Parents will appreciate the shaded seating areas positioned with clear views of the playground - great for keeping an eye on the kids while taking a breather.

The park also features a 300-seat amphitheater for community events and performances, adding a cultural dimension to this recreational space. Planning a special occasion? The park pavilion can be reserved for parties and gatherings.

The Practical Stuff

You can find clean restroom facilities conveniently located near the playground and splash pad. These include water bottle refill stations, but the water isn't always the most refreshing temperature.

Note that unless they're trained service animals, dogs aren't allowed in the park - making this a good option if you or your little ones have pet allergies.

The park is well-maintained with plenty of parking in the church lot. Just be aware that traffic can get congested before, during, or after church services, so timing your visit accordingly might save you some frustration.
