Gilbert Garza Park is a 21.5-acre public park in San Antonio, Texas. Originally named Mira Vista after the adjacent street, the park was established in 1972 and later renamed in honor of Mayor Pro Tem Gilbert Garza, who passed away that same year.
The park has historical significance in San Antonio. Its namesake, Gilbert Garza, was only the third Hispanic to be elected as Mayor Pro Tem in the city's history. Garza, a native of San Antonio and son of immigrants from Monterrey, Mexico, was known for his work in architecture and his contributions to the city's development.
