Rosedale Park's story begins way back in 1892, starting as a modest 1.7-acre plot within the broader Rosedale subdivision. Fast forward to the 1960s, and the park had grown impressively to its current 65.5 acres - practically matching the size of the original subdivision plan itself!

Wander through this green space and you'll find yourself on winding trails surrounded by vegetation - a nice escape from San Antonio's urban setting. The landscape unfolds with open meadows, wooded sections, and various athletic facilities that cater to just about any outdoor activity you might fancy.

The well-kept walkways and recreation areas complement the natural beauty of the place. There's plenty of parking throughout the grounds, so you won't have to worry about where to leave your car during your visit.

Get Your Game On

Active types will feel right at home here. On the north side sits a skate park complete with quarter pipes and a bowl area - it's best for beginners, but offers enough space for anyone looking to practice their skateboarding moves.

Sports fans haven't been forgotten either. The park has baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, and volleyball courts. If you're looking to break a sweat, check out the fitness equipment scattered throughout. And those wide-open grassy spaces? Perfect for an impromptu game of frisbee or catch.

Rosedale Park is a community space with a family-friendly atmosphere. Its central San Antonio location makes it easy to reach, providing a green space in the midst of the city.

The park hosts several annual cultural gatherings, most notably the Tejano/Conjunto Festival - a celebration of local music and heritage.

The large covered pavilion represents a venue for everything from concerts to family reunions. It provides welcome shade during those scorching Texas days and makes an ideal spot for family barbecues or larger get-togethers.

Picnic Paradise

Fancy an outdoor meal? Picnic tables are scattered across the grounds, and there's a larger pavilion area as well. With trash cans conveniently placed nearby, cleanup is a breeze.

The grilling areas are well-suited for cookouts, however if you're planning something bigger - like a party with water slides or a major barbecue setup - you might want to check with the parks recreational office about specific rules first.

Good to Know

Rosedale Park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 11PM. Just remember that alcohol isn't allowed within the park - keeping things family-friendly for everyone.

When nature calls, you'll discover permanent restroom facilities (typically open during organized events) as well as portable toilets available year-round. After dark, the San Antonio Police Department regularly patrols the area for everyone's safety.

If you're a senior or know one, don't miss the Senior's Farmer's Market held every fourth Thursday of the month from 10AM to 12PM. Local farms bring fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods, with cash and SNAP benefits accepted. Qualifying seniors who register can even receive $50 to spend on fresh produce!
