Bridal Veil Falls Park
About Bridal Veil Falls Park
A Cascading Beauty
Found in Provo Canyon, just 4 miles northeast of Provo, Utah, Bridal Veil Falls is a stunning natural waterfall that matches its poetic name. Tumbling 607 feet down a rugged cliff face, the water creates a stunning double cataract that really does resemble a delicate bridal veil floating down the mountainside.
Fed by natural springs on Cascade Mountain, the falls flow year-round, but you'll see them at their most dramatic during spring snowmelt. If you visit in winter, you might witness something truly magical - the entire waterfall frozen into spectacular ice formations that draw ice climbers from across the globe.
Getting There (It's Easy!)
One of the nice things about Bridal Veil Falls is how accessible it is. You can enjoy a great view right from the parking lot without taking a single step on a trail.
For a closer experience, take a short stroll along the paved path that follows the Provo River. This trail is part of the Provo River Parkway and is completely flat, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. A quick walk across a bridge brings you to viewing areas at the base where you can feel the refreshing mist on warm days.
Hiking Adventures
If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you can take on the steeper trail that climbs to the middle section of the falls. Just a heads-up - this path can get slippery and rough in spots with some washouts, so proper hiking shoes are definitely recommended.
Thinking about scaling to the higher sections? Proceed with caution. The climbing path gets quite steep and can be treacherous, especially after rain or during winter. There aren't any safety railings up there, and rockslides do happen occasionally. Safety first, right?
Take a Break
When you need to rest and refuel, Bridal Veil Falls Park at the base has several shaded picnic areas with tables - great for a lunch with a view. There are vault toilets in the parking area, but note that they don't have running water.
On hot summer days, the small pool at the base of the falls becomes an impromptu splash zone where kids (and kids at heart) cool off in the crystal-clear mountain water. It's a simple joy that makes for great memories.
Far From Just Waterfalls
The paved Provo River Parkway isn't just for accessing the falls - it's a recreation destination in itself. The flat, smooth surface makes it ideal for walking, biking, and longboarding for people of all fitness levels.
Bringing your four-legged friend? The park is dog-friendly, just remember to keep them leashed. And if you're looking for a great backdrop for those special photos - graduations, engagements, or family portraits - the falls provide a spectacular natural setting that's hard to beat.
A Bit of History
There's something bittersweet about knowing that this area once featured an aerial tramway and a restaurant perched at the top of the falls. Nature had other plans, though, when an avalanche in 1996 destroyed these structures, and they were never rebuilt.
Today, the falls exist in their pure, natural state - perhaps as they were always meant to be. Each season paints this natural wonder in a different light: spring brings rushing waters, summer offers cooling mists, fall decorates the scene with colorful foliage, and winter transforms the falls into a frozen sculpture. Whatever time of year you visit, Bridal Veil Falls offers a peaceful reminder of Utah's wild and beautiful landscapes.
