Quail Orchard Park
About Quail Orchard Park
Provo's Newest Green Space
Quail Orchard Park joined Provo's landscape on September 28, 2023, becoming the city's 57th park. This 7.5-acre park quickly became popular with local families who enjoy its well-designed spaces and amenities.
If you're looking for a fresh air retreat in northern Provo, consider adding this park to your weekend plans.
Playgrounds for Everyone
The park has three separate playground zones designed for different age groups. There's a dedicated area for the tiny tots, another for the grade-schoolers, and one for the older adventure-seekers.
Instead of the usual bark or sand that inevitably finds its way into shoes and pockets, these playgrounds feature rubber mat cushioning that's both cleaner and safer for tumbles and falls.
Thoughtfully, many play structures sit under shade sails that keep the summer sun at bay. The main playground area cleverly uses the natural hillside, creating a multi-level play experience with plenty of climbing opportunities.
The playgrounds include several giant slides that - let's be honest - parents might "test out" just as much as the kids.
Beyond the Ordinary Play Equipment
This isn't your standard swing-and-slide park. Kids can test their balance on the rope bridge, pretend they're explorers on the adventure island play area, or zoom down the unique pole slide.
For the climbing enthusiasts, there's even a rock bouldering wall to practice those scaling skills.
The multi-level design takes advantage of the natural hill, creating different zones of play that keep children engaged and active. From climbing structures to interactive elements, there's enough variety to make each visit feel fresh.
Get Moving
Pickleball fans, rejoice! The park features four well-maintained courts for this increasingly popular sport. No matter if you're a seasoned player or just curious to try, these courts offer a perfect setting to serve and volley.
Beyond the courts, spacious open fields invite impromptu soccer matches, frisbee games, or simply running free. A paved trail loops around the entire park, meant for a leisurely evening stroll, your morning jog, or teaching the little ones to ride bikes in a safe environment.
Natural Beauty
Perhaps one of the park's most charming features is the gently flowing stream that winds its way through the grounds. Complete with a small waterfall feature and crossed by footbridges, it adds a touch of tranquility to the active atmosphere.
It's an ideal spot to pause, listen to the water, and reset.
And let's not forget those breathtaking mountain views that remind you exactly why Utah is so special. The mountains create a stunning backdrop that changes with the seasons, making every visit visually refreshing.
Gathering Spots
Planning a birthday party or family reunion? The park offers one large reservable pavilion for organized gatherings. For more spontaneous meetups, three additional pavilions operate on a first-come basis, providing shaded retreats from the summer heat.
Scattered throughout the grounds, you'll find plenty of picnic tables and benches well-suited for lunch breaks or simply sitting back to watch the kids play. When dusk approaches, lighted walking paths mean your outdoor time doesn't have to end with the sunset.
Practical Amenities
The park includes four family-style restrooms that are kept clean and well-maintained (though be aware they typically close during winter months). Drinking fountains are strategically placed throughout, so you can stay hydrated during your outdoor adventures.
Part of a Bigger Picture
Quail Orchard Park is part of Provo's network of outdoor spaces. Its northern location provides recreational opportunities for residents in that part of the city.
Good to Know
Parking is mostly street-side, with a small dedicated lot that fills quickly during peak times. The park tends to be busiest on weekends and summer evenings, so if you prefer a quieter experience, consider a weekday morning visit or an off-season excursion.
