About the Location
Sports Galore
Stretching across nearly 78 acres, Centennial Park is the recreational heart of West Valley City. The park features baseball and softball fields arranged in wagon wheel formations, complete with announcement stands where you'll hear proud parents cheering and concession areas for when hunger strikes mid-game.
If baseball isn't your thing, don't worry - you can shoot hoops on the basketball courts, play a match on the tennis courts, or try your hand at the newly added pickleball courts that have been drawing quite the crowd lately.
Skater's Dream
Centennial Park houses one of Utah's largest skate parks - a victory that came after years of local skaters and families advocating for a proper place to shred. Whether you're on a skateboard, BMX bike, or scooter, you'll find drops and tracks suited to your skill level.
In a quirky twist, the park also features a remote control crawler course where RC enthusiasts can navigate their vehicles through mini terrain challenges. If you prefer moving your own feet, there are paved jogging paths winding through the grounds - ideal for getting those steps in while enjoying some fresh air.
Family Fun Zone
Kids have their pick of two different playground areas with modern climbing structures, swings, and slides that'll keep them entertained for hours. One playground even has a sand base, which adds a beach-like element to playtime (just remember to check those shoes before getting back in the car!).
Planning a family reunion or big get-together? The park's multiple pavilions can each hold up to 240 people and are available for reservation. These covered spaces provide welcome shade during summer gatherings and shelter for cooler weather events.
Splash and Fitness
The onsite recreation center is home to both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. During summer months, you'll likely hear the squeals of delight from kids (and adults!) zooming down the outdoor pool's water slide - a wonderful way to cool off on those scorching Utah days.
The rec center also offers year-round fitness options, making it easy to transition from an outdoor workout to indoor facilities when the weather doesn't cooperate.
Community Gatherings
All year long, Centennial Park transforms into a community meeting place. Summer brings a lively farmers market where you can browse local produce, honey, and handcrafted items while often enjoying the bonus of live music in the background.
The park also hosts outdoor movie nights where you can spread out a blanket on the lawn and enjoy films under the stars - a simple pleasure that brings the community together in a special way.
Extra Perks
Scattered within the grounds are BBQ grills and picnic tables, great for anything from a casual lunch to a full-on cookout. When winter blankets the area with snow, a sledding hill becomes the park's seasonal highlight.
You'll discover restrooms and drinking fountains conveniently located around the park - practical touches that make longer visits much more comfortable. With its varied facilities, Centennial Park offers activities for people of many ages, interests, and activity levels.
