The park's sandy beach area features a designated swimming zone that's lifeguard-protected from noon to 7pm between late May and early September. The gentle slope into the water makes this spot especially great for families with little ones. Don't worry if swimming isn't your strong suit - free life jackets are available for everyone to use.

Wade into the refreshing lake for a swim or try your luck fishing from the long dock that stretches into the water. Keep in mind that motorized boats need to stay 100 feet from the swim line, and city regulations don't allow tubes in the water. If you bring inflatable floaties, you'll need to keep them in the shallow swim area only.

Picnic Paradise and Play

Spread out a blanket on one of the multiple picnic spots scattered throughout the grassy areas of the park. The open lawn spaces are fantastic for setting up beach umbrellas and enjoying an afternoon picnic. There are several tables available too, but you might want to arrive early on weekends to snag one.

Getting Around and Facilities

You can find well-maintained restrooms conveniently located near the beach and dock area. Just be prepared for a somewhat steep trek from the parking lot down to the waterfront - something to keep in mind if mobility is a concern. While most of the park is accessible, some areas might be challenging for visitors with disabilities.

The parking lot offers plenty of spaces during weekdays, but it can fill up quickly on weekends and throughout the summer months. Remember that the park closes at sunset, so plan accordingly. Pro tip: When using GPS, search specifically for the parking area rather than the park itself to avoid being directed to the limited handicap spaces.
