About the Location

Waterfront Haven

Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington in Bellevue, Enatai Beach Park spans a modest 3 acres but packs in plenty of waterfront charm. This little oasis provides direct access to Lake Washington and connects to the water trails of the nearby Mercer Slough Nature Park.

Partially nestled under the I-90 bridge (yes, there's a highway above, but don't let that deter you), the park rewards visitors with beautiful views across Lake Washington, the surrounding hills, and if you're lucky on clear days, a glimpse of majestic Mount Rainier. Early birds and sunset chasers take note - this spot offers some pretty spectacular sunrise and sunset views over the water.

Beach Vibes & Swimming

The small sandy beach here features a designated swimming area with lifeguards on duty during summer months. The beach stays relatively clean and well-maintained, however you might share the shoreline with the occasional waterfowl neighbor.

After taking a dip, you can rinse off at the outdoor shower station, which thoughtfully includes separate taps just for washing sandy feet - a small detail that makes a big difference after a day by the water.

Paddle Your Way

One of the park's highlights is its boathouse, where REI runs seasonal rentals of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. You can grab a single kayak or splurge on a tandem for around $37 per hour, and life jackets come included with all rentals.

Year-round, the park is a launch site for non-motorized watercraft, making it a go-to spot for paddle enthusiasts. Many visitors use this as their starting point to explore Mercer Slough - the full loop takes about three hours at a relaxed paddling pace.

Play & Recreation

Kids will appreciate the modern playground with separate zones for different age groups. The geodesic rope dome tends to be the star attraction, and parents can breathe easier knowing the ground is covered with rubber cushioning for softer landings.

For those interested in fishing, there's a dedicated fishing dock that doubles as a popular jumping-off point for swimmers during summer months.

Rest & Relax

The spacious patio overlooking the lake makes an ideal spot for an impromptu picnic or simply sitting back with a good book. Benches positioned at strategic viewpoints let you take in the lake scenery from different angles.

Clean restrooms are available during park hours (though they typically close during winter), and there's a water fountain for staying hydrated on warmer days.

The large grassy area invites informal games, picnics, or just lounging in the sun to complement your waterfront experience.

Good to Know

Fair warning about parking - it's quite limited with only 5-6 spaces (including two accessible spots). During peak summer days, you'll want to arrive early as the lot fills quickly.

Despite the highway overhead, there's something special about this urban-adjacent natural retreat. Its unique location and thoughtful amenities make it equally suitable for active water adventures or quiet moments of lakeside relaxation.
