About the Location

Riverside Escape & Natural Beauty

Tucked along the Cedar River in Kent, Washington, Riverview Park spans 11 acres of riverside tranquility. Since its establishment in 1979 (thanks to Community Development Block Grant funding), it's part of the Cedar River Greenway System.

The park offers views of the flowing Cedar River and provides access to both the Cedar River Trail and Green River Trail - good paths for jogging, walking, or cycling. Wander through open meadows and follow the soft-surface trails that meander down to the riverbank, where you can launch a kayak or canoe if you're feeling adventurous.

Room to Roam

At the heart of Riverview Park is a large, open grassy area suitable for frisbee games, picnics, or relaxing with a book. Picnic tables dot the park's perimeter, offering ideal spots to enjoy an outdoor meal with friends or family.

Cyclists particularly appreciate this green space as a welcome rest stop during longer rides along the connected trails. Note that shade is somewhat limited across the park, so don't forget your sunscreen and hat on those sunny Washington days.

Nature's Classroom

Beyond recreation, Riverview Park is an important conservation area and outdoor learning environment. Interpretive displays within the grounds help you connect with and understand the local ecosystem.

One of the park's most significant features is its salmon habitat. Informative signs detail the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe's historical relationship with the Cedar River and highlight the endangered Chinook and Sockeye salmon that make their spawning journey in the waters below - a remarkable natural spectacle when in season.

Recent Enhancements

The park received a meaningful upgrade in 2014 with the replacement of an aging bridge that spans the Cedar River. The new crossing features a single-span, pedestrian aluminum design with a light-penetrating grated surface that enhances safety while minimizing environmental impact.

Getting There & Getting Around

You'll find ample free parking at the trailhead, making visits stress-free. As a hub for the regional trail system, Riverview Park provides an excellent jumping-off point for longer explorations of the area.

For Kent residents and visitors alike, this riverside retreat offers a peaceful space to recreate, learn, and connect with the natural world along the beautiful Cedar River.
