Location and Trail Access
Cedar River Trail Park is a 24-acre public park located in Renton, Washington, at the mouth of the Cedar River where it flows into Lake Washington. The park serves as a trailhead for the Cedar River Trail, a 17.4-mile multi-use path that follows the river upstream to the community of Landsburg.
The park serves as an important link in the local trail system, connecting urban and rural sections of the Cedar River Trail. From here, visitors can embark on longer journeys along the trail, which is paved for the first 12.3 miles and features a soft surface for the last five miles.
Natural Features and Wildlife Viewing
The park offers visitors scenic views of Lake Washington and provides access to the Cedar River, making it a popular spot for wildlife viewing. Visitors can often spot birds such as Blue Herons and Bald Eagles in their natural habitat.
During the fall, visitors can witness the annual salmon migration as the fish make their way up the Cedar River to spawn.
Recreational Amenities
Cedar River Trail Park features picnic areas close to the water's edge, allowing visitors to enjoy meals while taking in the natural surroundings. The park also includes a playground with new ship-themed equipment, catering to children aged 2 to 12 years old.
For water enthusiasts, the park provides a non-motorized boat launch, allowing access to the river for kayaks and canoes. The Cedar River Boathouse, located within walking distance of the park, offers kayak and canoe rentals as well as instruction for those interested in exploring the waterway.
