Gateway to the Sound

Tucked between buildings along Beach Drive SW in Seattle, Andover Place is a small urban location that offers something truly special - direct access to the shores of Puget Sound. This narrow strip of land might not be sprawling, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in purpose.

Back in 1948, Edward P. Grad and Betty Grad donated this land to Seattle with a simple but meaningful vision: that it be "used exclusively for public recreation and access to waters of Puget Sound." Their gift continues to serve the community today.

A humble path guides you down to the beach, where nature has provided its own seating arrangement - driftwood and tree trunks that have washed ashore create perfect perches for watching ferries glide by or simply soaking in the coastal atmosphere.
