About the Location
Historic Background
Established in 1887, Kinnear Park is one of Seattle's oldest parks. The 14.1-acre public park was donated to the city by real estate developer George Kinnear.
As a historic park, it retains some original landscape design elements from the late 19th century.
Park Layout
The park is divided into two distinct sections - an upper and lower portion. The upper section features open grassy areas, walking paths, and panoramic views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
The lower section is more heavily forested, with winding trails through mature trees. The park contains glacial boulders and native plant species like big leaf maples.
Recreational Amenities
Kinnear Park offers several recreational amenities including tennis courts and a children's playground. There is also an off-leash dog area located in the western part of the park.
The park serves as a green space and neighborhood park for the Queen Anne community, while also attracting visitors for its scenic views of the Seattle waterfront and surrounding landscape.
