Marshall Park is a small urban park located in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Covering an area of 0.78 acres, this compact green space offers visitors a tranquil retreat with panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Originally known as "Phelps Place," the park served as a popular viewpoint for sightseers before the expansion and improvement of Queen Anne Boulevard. In 1960, it was officially renamed Marshall Park in honor of the Marshall family.
Notable Features
One of the park's most notable features is the Betty Bowen Viewpoint, which was added in 1977-1978. This vantage point provides visitors with stunning vistas of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, making it a favored spot for photography and quiet contemplation.
The park's concrete walkway contains unsigned artwork by several prominent Pacific Northwest artists, including Guy Anderson, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves, Victor Steinbrueck, Charles Stokes, and Margaret Tompkins. This unique feature adds an element of cultural interest to the park's natural beauty.
