Rainier Beach Playfield sits as part of a larger recreational complex that includes the Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool, giving you plenty of options for staying active.

The playfield has a variety of facilities for different ages and interests. Sprawling sports fields give you plenty of room to kick a soccer ball around or toss a football with friends. If baseball or softball is more your speed, you'll find well-maintained baseball and softball fields ready for your next game - whether that's an organized league match or just a casual weekend meetup.

Got a competitive streak? The tennis courts are ideal for working on your serve, while the basketball court awaits your next pickup game. The park's fitness equipment provides options for outdoor workouts while enjoying the fresh air.

Playground Features

Rainier Beach Playfield has several features for children. The extensive playground features modern equipment with safety surfacing that'll keep parents' minds at ease while the little ones play. Multiple structures with slides provide classic playground fun, along with a popular zipline and a rope climbing structure for more adventurous kids.

Natural Setting and Accessibility

Mature trees dot the landscape, providing welcome shade on sunny days and creating a peaceful atmosphere throughout the park. Paved paths wind through the grounds, making it easy to navigate whether you're walking, jogging, or pushing a stroller. The picnic areas provide spaces for lunch or family gatherings. You'll also find drinking water and restrooms available on-site, however please note that restroom hours may vary seasonally.

Community Connection

The park's location makes it a natural gathering spot, sitting adjacent to South Lake High and Dunlap Elementary, with Rainier Beach High School just across the street. This proximity to schools brings many students and families to the space after school hours. A newer addition to the park, the community garden, has become popular with neighborhood residents.

Aquatic Facilities

When the temperature rises, the adjacent Rainier Beach Pool offers a wonderful cool-down option. With two large swimming pools, a slide, sauna, and hot tub, it offers an affordable option for families. Lifeguards supervise the swimming areas, making it a nice complement to the playfield's outdoor amenities.
