A Step Back in Time

In 1899, railroad tycoon D.C. Corbin bought the land that would become Corbin Park and donated it to the city of Spokane, transforming what had been the Washington-Idaho Fair Association fairgrounds and horse racing track into a public green space. That history runs deep beneath what is now an 11-acre park in the Emerson-Garfield neighborhood.

More than a century later, the park still serves as the neighborhood's green heart - a living reminder of how an old fairground became something far more lasting.

An Oval Oasis

What makes Corbin Park instantly recognizable is its unique oval shape - a living reminder of its racetrack origins. Take a moment to appreciate the beautiful historic homes surrounding the park, many part of the Corbin Park Historic District that's earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tall, mature trees create dappled shade across the grassy grounds, excellent for escaping the summer heat. If you're a fan of seasonal beauty, fall is breathtaking here when the leaves transform into a canvas of reds and golds.

Come winter, you can't miss the three-story Christmas tree standing proudly in the park's center - a magical sight that brings holiday cheer to the neighborhood.

Play, Sport, Repeat

The recently updated playground has equipment for kids of all ages, from toddlers to older children, making it popular with local families.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the freshly renovated tennis court, pickle ball court, and basketball court with their smooth surfaces and sturdy nets. The spacious grassy areas are great for everything from frisbee to impromptu soccer games.

A walking path traces the oval perimeter, ideal for your morning jog or evening stroll with your four-legged friend. Just watch your step on some sections where tree roots have created uneven terrain.

All the Essentials

Scattered across the park are several picnic tables, with some conveniently positioned near the playground - fantastic for keeping an eye on the kids while enjoying lunch. You'll find BBQ grills available too, but some show the love they've received over the years.

The park features charming restroom facilities housed in stone buildings with character, but note they're typically closed during the colder months (October through winter).

Water fountains are on hand when you need to hydrate, and dog waste bag dispensers help everyone do their part in keeping the park clean.
