About the Location
Park Overview
Found in suburban north Spokane, Washington, Northwoods Park sits right next to Brentwood Elementary School. This 5-acre green space offers a refreshing natural retreat within the surrounding developed community.
The park has been a neighborhood fixture since 1965, when the Spokane County Parks Department acquired land that developers of the Brentwood-Fairwood Crest neighborhoods had set aside for public use.
Natural Environment
Walk through Northwoods Park and you can find yourself surrounded by majestic Ponderosa Pine trees and open grassy areas that create a peaceful escape from the bustle of everyday life. The towering trees cast dappled shade across the grounds, making it ideal for summer visits.
Dog owners particularly appreciate this natural setting - your four-legged friends will love exploring the interesting scents and spacious areas between the pines. It's a great spot to let them stretch their legs while you enjoy the tranquility.
Amenities
Kids need a place to burn off energy? The park's playground is ideal for children 4 and older, with equipment that encourages both physical activity and imagination. You'll also find restroom facilities for convenience, however keep in mind they may close during colder seasons.
Planning a family gathering or birthday celebration? The spacious picnic shelter (34 feet by 34 feet) provides an excellent spot for outdoor meals and social events. You can simply show up and use it if it's available, or reserve it for a fee if you need guaranteed space. Just note that you won't find electrical outlets or water access at the shelter, so plan accordingly.
Community Value
Northwoods Park is a green space for the neighborhood - a peaceful place where residents can exercise, socialize, or simply sit and enjoy a moment of natural beauty within the city.
Its location beside Brentwood Elementary School makes it especially valuable for families with school-aged children, who often stop by before or after school. The park blends seamlessly into its friendly neighborhood surroundings, creating an inviting atmosphere that welcomes visitors of all ages during the year.
