Bay Beach Park

History and Development

Bay Beach Amusement Park is a municipal amusement park located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Situated near the mouth of the Fox River on the east bank as it flows into Green Bay, the park covers 73 acres and has been in operation since 1892.

Originally known as Bay View Beach until around 1920, the park was initially developed as a private resort before being donated to the city of Green Bay in 1920. It is now owned and operated by the City of Green Bay, making it one of the few municipally-run amusement parks in the United States.

Rides and Attractions

The park features a variety of rides and attractions suitable for visitors of all ages. One of its most notable attractions is the Zippin Pippin, a wooden roller coaster that was relocated from Memphis, Tennessee.

Other popular rides include a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, a tilt-a-whirl, and various kiddie rides.

Visitor Information

Bay Beach Amusement Park is known for its affordability. There is no admission fee to enter the park, and parking is free. Visitors purchase tickets for individual rides, with each ticket costing 25 cents.

Rides typically require between one to four tickets per person. The park operates seasonally, usually from May through September.

Location and Amenities

Its picturesque location on the bay provides scenic views and a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. In addition to rides, the park also offers concession stands, picnic areas, and pavilions that can be rented for events.

Adjacent to the amusement park is the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, a 600-acre urban wildlife refuge that complements the recreational offerings of the area.
