If you're an angler at heart, Burr Jones Park is worth knowing about. Stretching along the Yahara River shoreline, the park offers 4.68 acres of neighborhood greenspace in Madison, Wisconsin, with easy access to fishing spots where you can cast a line and enjoy some quiet time by the water.

Get Your Game On

The park's multi-use open field has become something of a hotspot for ultimate frisbee enthusiasts. What's especially nice is that the field comes with lights, so your evening games don't have to end when the sun goes down.

Basketball more your thing? The park features two courts where you can shoot some hoops or get a pickup game going.

Easy to Reach

One of the best things about Burr Jones Park is how well it connects to Madison's bike path network. You can hop on at the North Thornton Avenue and East Johnson Street intersection, making it a breeze to reach whether you're cycling or walking from nearby neighborhoods.

Good to Know

This is one of Madison's alcohol-free parks, creating a family-friendly atmosphere that's welcoming for visitors of all ages. Dogs are welcome too, as long as they're licensed, leashed, and you have the proper permit.

Just a heads up - you won't find restrooms or drinking water here, so plan accordingly before your visit.

The park bears the name of Burr W. Jones, who dedicated his time as a member of the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association back in the early 1900s, helping shape the city's green spaces for future generations.
