Elver Park

Year-Round Recreation

At 250 acres, Elver Park is Madison's largest community park, and it earns that status across every season. The trails, landscapes, and range of activities mean there's genuinely something here for everyone, whether you show up in July or January.

Summer Fun

When the sun's out, Elver Park comes alive. You'll find athletic fields excellent for soccer and softball games, basketball courts for pickup games, tennis courts for those who enjoy a good rally, and a disc golf course that meanders through grasslands and pine plantations. The disc golf course is well-maintained and offers nice views, making it popular with local enthusiasts.

If you're visiting with kids, the playground area features a variety of climbing structures and swings suitable for different ages. On hot days, the splash park offers welcome relief, operating daily between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. There are plenty of benches and grassy spots nearby where you can relax while keeping an eye on the little ones.

Winter Wonderland

When snow blankets the ground, Elver Park transforms into a winter recreation destination. The park features groomed cross-country ski trails with some sections lit for evening adventures.

The popular sledding hill draws families from across Madison - just be careful on those steeper sections! You'll also find ice skating rinks for both casual skating and hockey games, plus trails meant for snowshoeing. There's something magical about experiencing the park's quiet beauty in winter.

Facilities and Features

Need space for a gathering? The park offers two reservable shelters that serve as perfect venues for community events. If you're more of an explorer, follow the hiking trails that wind through the park, taking you through forested areas and up hills with rewarding views.

Elver Park also hosts a summer farmer's market, bringing local produce and crafts to the community. For your convenience, there are year-round restroom facilities (though some close during winter), plus picnic tables and grilling areas for outdoor meals.

Natural Environment

Nature lovers will appreciate Elver's diverse ecosystems. The small pond attracts wildlife including herons, ducks, and occasionally sandhill cranes, making it a worthwhile spot for birdwatching.

The walking paths offer seasonal beauty that's particularly stunning in autumn when the trees display their fall colors. If you need a moment of peace, the forested areas provide quiet retreats away from the more active sections of the park.

With its mix of recreational opportunities and natural beauty, Elver Park is a valuable green space for both Madison residents and visitors, offering year-round possibilities for outdoor enjoyment in a picturesque setting.
