Park Overview

Tucked away in Madison, Wisconsin, Nakoma Park spans 5.21 acres of green refuge for the Nakoma community and beyond. While it may be sandwiched between roads in a somewhat narrow, elongated shape, don't let that fool you - the park maintains a wonderfully natural, forest-like atmosphere with its preserved rocks and trees that make you forget you're in the middle of a neighborhood.

You can enjoy this little glimpse of nature daily from 4:00 AM (for you early birds) until 10:00 PM.

School Partnership

The park has a pretty cool arrangement with Thoreau Elementary School that's been going strong for over three decades. During school hours, the playground belongs to the students, but once the school day ends, it's all yours. It's a smart way to make the most of the space for everyone in the community.
